Blues Fest Crowd
Albert Cummings

It seemed like Hagerstown really took a shine to Albert Cummings when he first appeared, as a relative newcomer in the blues world, at Blues Fest 2005’s Downtown House Party. He wowed us. And there was a similar outpouring of affection when he graced us with a set at our 2006 Cabin Fever Blues Bash. In 2008, we are pleased to once again present this amazing young guitarist as he gets our whole Blues Fest weekend off to a powerful start with an extended set during our new, revamped THURSDAY BLUES PRELUDE in the beautiful University Plaza Park, located beside the Downtown Hagerstown Campus of the University Systems of Maryland. You’re definitely going to hear some SRV-style guitar, as Albert displays the influence that made him set down the five-string banjo, and instantly switch to electric blues guitar. Albert’s 2006 Blind Pig records release, Working Man, is a CD loaded with Cummings’ originals which showcase a mature guitarist and songwriter in full command of all of his skills. Yet, fans will get a powerful new combination -- the Stevie-Ray-Vaughn-style blues guitar they’ve come to expect from Albert, wrapped up in some of Albert’s early country influences. The effect is masterful. Be sure to get downtown Thursday night for this FREE concert (limited admission due to capacity) by one of the hottest young guitarists on the blues scene!!
