The Eric Byrd Trio + 4: The Ray Charles Tribute Combo
After seeing keyboardist Eric’s band perform exciting, horn-driven jazz and R&B at the 2007 Maryland Wine Festival, we just knew Blues Fest audiences would dig him too! And what better setting than our beautiful Family Blues Picnic in City Park on Sunday? This exciting band will no doubt quickly shift our Sunday show into high gear. Raised in the Philadelphia suburbs of New Jersey, Eric is a member of the faculty at nearby McDaniel College, (formerly Western Maryland College). His inventive gospel and blues-inspired improvisations have captured the attention of world audiences during the band’s six week tour of Latin America as Kennedy Center U.S. State Department “Jazz Ambassadors” in 2001, and in more recent performances at festivals in Switzerland and Bolivia.
