Exhibition

Waynesboro artist, Suzee White, the 2011 Blues Fest artist will be the featured artist at the Washington County Arts Council gallery during June 2011. The opening reception for the Blues Fest artist's show will be held on Thursday, June 2, 2011 from 6pm until 9pm following the BLUES PRELUDE at University Plaza.

Also exhibiting the blues.

  • Photographer Jamie Turner will exhibit "Black, White, and Blues..." in the North Gallery.
  • Scott Cawood MSAC recipient of a "2010 INDIVIDUAL ARTIST AWARDS for Visual Arts: Sculpture" will display three blues sculptures.
The exhibits run from June 2, through June 29, 2011. WCAC Gallery is located at 14 W Washington Street, just off the square in downtown Hagerstown.

City Central Lot, N. Potomac St. (Limited Admission) $20 in advance* and $25 at the gate.
$7 children 6-12 years old. Free for children 5 and under. Gates open at 4:00 p.m. ID Required.

Ernie Hawkins Band (Lecture/Performance Workshop) Noon to 12:45 p.m.
Texas Blues Guitar: This is a hands-on workshop introducing the basics of single-base fingerpicking. Although not confined to Texas players, this style was made famous by guys like Lightnin' Hopkins, Mance Lipscomb, To supplement the workshop, Ernie has teaching DVDs available revealing the styles of these two great Texas bluesmen. Hopefully, the participant will walk out of this workshop with some of the fundamentals of this style at his, or her, fingertips.
